6 Simple Steps To Increase Your Productivity : Pomodoro Technique

Pomodoro means tomato in Italian. The Pomodoro technique is a time management based productivity technique that uses set  time intervals for scheduling work and five-minute breaks afterwards as reward. This method was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s & it derived its name from the tomato shaped kitchen timer which he had used.

Below are 6 simple steps used in this method which will help increase your daily productivty & focus :

1. Make a list of most important tasks you want to be done.

2. Set the timer to 25 minutes ( you can vary the time based on your focusing capacity like 15 minutes also).

3. Focus on the task by working non stop & switch off all distractions. If due to any urgent reason you are distracted then you will have to stop the timer & restart it all over again.

4. STOP immediately when the timer rings and put a checkmark on a piece of paper if the task is done. This 1 interval of time period is called Pomodoro. If not completed then start the timer again for another 25 minutes.

5. After each pomodoro which means 25 minutes task take a break for 5 minutes. Have some snacks ,coffee or tea. You should look back on the progress of your task & analyse strategy to complete the task during the break. If you have completed your task then prepare yourself for the next set of task. Then again go to step# 2.

6. After completion of four sets of pomodoro, take a longer break of around 15–30 minutes, reset your checklist count & then go to step 1. Use this break for doing some activities to relax yourself & make you feel fresh. This will help increase your productivity.

Benefits of using Pomodoro technique :

1) It helps to increase your focus towards work as you have to work non stop without any distractions.
2) It is a good time management technique as you can easily record the time taken to compleye a specific task.
3) Due to regular breaks after completion of each pomodoro you do not feel stressed but are always refreshed & energised.
4) It is helpful for all genere of people be it students preparing for their studies/ exams or even office goers to complete their work.

So use this technique to help increase your daily tasks in more effective stress free way & leave your experiences in the comment box below.

Ashtavinayak Yatra : Worshipping Lord Ganesha

Last Diwali festival season my office was closed for four days long weekend vacation. To make the most of my time I booked  Ashtavinayak Yatra  tour with one of many tour operators in Mumbai. The tour was of 3 days & 2 nights. So myself with my parents joined the tour of Ashtavinayak Darshan (means to worship 8 Ganeshas).  The tour bus picked us up @ 7:30 am & more families joined us on route. Our first destination was Varad Vinayak in Mahad village. We reached there @ 9:30am. It is one of the Ashtavinayak temple in Mahad  village near Khopoli & Karjat in Raigad, M aharastra. The temple also has a Shiv Mandir in its premises. The original Ganesh idol was found in a lake adjoining the present temple premises, but as time passed the original idol developed cracks & hence after proper rituals it was immersed in the lake & later was placed in a glass frame in Datta mandir near the present temple. The Datta mandir has main idol of Lord Datta & also ha
